D R E S S C O D E:
We know many of you have questions about the black tie dress code, so we’re here to save you the stress and break it down. Black tie is a formal evening style, For men, this usually means wearing a tuxedo, traditionally black or midnight blue, with satin lapels on the jacket and matching trousers that feature a satin stripe down the outside of the legs. The jacket should have no flap pockets, keeping the look sleek and formal. It is paired with a white formal dress shirt, either with a covered placket or with shirt studs, and a black bow tie. A cummerbund or waist covering is often worn, along with polished black dress shoes, and accessories like cufflinks or a pocket square. While the classic jacket is made of wool with satin lapels, velvet dinner jackets are also a stylish and accepted option that adds personality while still staying within black tie standards.
For women, black tie usually calls for elegant evening wear. We recommend a floor-length gown as the most classic choice, though a sophisticated cocktail dress or a formal jumpsuit will also be accepted. Dresses are typically made from luxurious fabrics such as satin, silk, velvet, chiffon, or lace, and are paired with heels or flats, jewelry, and a small clutch. To complete the look for colder evenings, a fur stole or wrap is a stylish and traditional accessory. Overall, the goal is to look polished, refined, and appropriate for a formal evening event.
